Bob Simpson gave me the heads up on a very rare SVW car going to auction tomorrow 24th June. Its a Charlesworth for full restoration at £4-8000k which is cheap. I've only seen one for sale and it was at £68k and there are only 2 in the UK of 5 known worldwide.
Check it out at Bicester Classic sale
Sold for £19,040 and with around £50k pro restoration will be £70k to break even. The new owner will have a wonderful car to use and show, great to see another on the road

I spoke to Tim Smith yesterday and he has sent me this official update for you all to have a read
'SVW Spares the specialist restoration, service and spares provider for MG SA, VA & WA 1930’s motor cars has been sold to John Harris, himself an MG enthusiast
Peter Radcliffe the founder and general manager for the last 25 plus years will remain with the business on a part time and consultancy basis meaning Peter’s experience, expertise and enthusiasm will remain on call to…

Well, we are still here.
It seems Ning have received many negative responses to their cancellation plans for the Ning mini site that they have 'rolled back' their decision to shut us down.
I'm not holding my breath, though as they seem to be hell bent on alienating most of the community networks at the expense of making a profit. For many of the pro sites, their fees have just doubled, so it seems a period of uncertainty.
I have written to them asking how long this…

Well, thanks to all who responded to my message, I appreciate it. As to the site, well I'm sorry to say that despite looking at many workarounds, it seems that hosting a site costs far too much money for a group of this size.
I am looking at other ways of sharing SVW info and will hopefully get this up and running in the winter (Northern hemisphere), I have managed to save all of the photos you have posted, so that time hasn't been lost but even though I have saved all the forum…

Hi all. Just a quick reminder to check your email inbox and spam folders as I have just sent out a message to all members.
This concerns the changes to the pricing plan for this site from the current low level to $588 a year. So unless any of you have some great ideas, this site will close on 1st October 2016 and all the discussions and photos will be lost.
Sorry to be the purveyor of bad news
Cheers
Mike

From the SVW yahoo group Dennis W. Klemm writes
Hi All,
I have not been active with the SVW cars in a few years. I'm back now. Back around 1990, I wrote an article for the SVW register about a SA the I drove during a visit to England.
That car, registration number EPH216, I understand is currently in The British Heritage Museum.
I'd like to find a copy of the article and who the owner was back in 1990.
Thanks

Hello all
I have received this email from David Darrell at Merlin Garages - he's looking for a car to hire. Some of you may already do this, but I do understand it's possible to get one day wedding insurance for around £30 a day, so not too expensive. Just thought you might like me to pass this opportunity on
I have no connection or prior knowledge of this company or of David Darrell, so please ensure you make your own checks before committing to…

Hi All
I just thought I'd send my congratulations to Rhys Timms and Dr Peter Zernial on their imminent arrival in Paris this weekend after their epic journey

Hi All
Just a quick heads up - Walter Prechsl on this site and the Yahoo groups site has offered to make up some lettering for SVW dashboards. Many of you are already aware of this but some may not have heard. If you are therefore interested, please drop Walter a quick message via his page to let him know you are interested. I think he has suggested a price of around $20, but hopefully this could be reduced with further numbers.
On total originally, Lee Jacobsen mentioned on…

Some of you may be aware that the Department for Transport is proposing to scrap the annual MOT test from 18th November 2012 for pre 1960 vehicles.
Whilst some may feel this is a good move, there are some who feel it could cause many problems, particularly if the vehicle is involved in an accident. How would one go about proving that your vehicle was roadworthy at the time of an accident,…

I thought I had a bit of an issue last year when the VA had its MOT. I could see that the n/s rear brake was not up to scratch. It still passed ok, but there was definitely some pulling on hard braking.
Having not used the car much over winter, I had to wait for some nice weather before getting the car out of the ridiculously small modern garage it's kept in to have a look.…

Hi all
I came across this photo and post by Mike Ellsmore who says
'Aussie SA, VA, VA - middle car is MGCC Victoria overall Concours winner in 2010 - immaculate! Red SA is off on the next Peking to Paris run.'

Hi Mike,
This video was on the TABC website, looks like a saloon, VA or SA?

Hi Mike
I do not have much history of my car. I have bought it from Barry Woolford in England near London, and he bought it from a scrapyard somewhere in UK in 1994. Barry has had all bodywork done by Mike Allison over the years till summer 2005, an he sold the car to me in december 2005. (His Wife did not like driving the car, and Barry meant, that it ws too noisy, which is not so peculiar, as it was fitted with only 1 silencer, from an MGC!). I have done the rest to the car incl. rebuilt the engine an new correct exhaust, so it now is in eccellent condition. I will mail You a picture soon.
Best
Borge
Hi Mike
just filled in the form. the car was donated to Bradford council by the police force to be used as a training car for young mechanics and was discovered by a friend who is a training manager for the council when the garage was cleared out.
I'm on a budget so the works will be going steadily, mainly using Peter Ratcliffe to secure parts but looking out for any second hand ones I can find
will keep in touch
