Transporting vehicles in the UK and Europe

I've just had my MG VA tourer moved from Eds to my house - around 220 miles. The guy who did the removals, Kev, is a pleasant and polite person who offers a very personal and caring service.

He's fully insured up to £40K and has a fleet of 4 low loaders. Take a look at his websites:

Autotrans and Classic car transportation

He charges around £1 a mile, but this is only charged from pickup to drop off. If there's a chance that he might be able to fit you in with another pickup in your area, he will do it even cheaper, if you ask. Call him for a quote

You can contact him on 07950 411 811 or at

Hope you find him as good as I did

WEFCO leather spring gaiters

Peter recommended WEFCO and they supply gaiters at £115 each
I came across the Springer Sisters Classic Transport Clubs, Parts and services links. There seems to be a recommendation for each of them and sometimes the named person to speak to - thought it might help someone
I now have found the correct name for wire wheels we had made for the VA - he did a great job and I would highly recommend him to you - his workshop is just wonderful

From the SVW forum on a discussion about rev counter gearbox. Evidently the correct gear ratio for a VA is 2.66:1 and they can be bought from Speedograph Richfield Ltd

Speedograph Richfield Ltd,
Rolleston Drive,
Arnold, Nottingham NG5 7JR United Kingdom.
Telephone:0044 (0) 115 926 4235.
Fax:0044 (0) 115 920 9912

They also do a range including

Flexible Drive and Control Cables
Instrumentation Repairs and Restoration
Instrument Fitting Accessories
Miniature Corrector Gearboxes & Angle Drives

I haven't come across these before, but they seem to have a very useful range of items

Does anyone know which ratio is correct for the SA?

RGB1014-02         2.25 : 1

RGB1014-03         2.66 : 1
